Do you need a homeschool cart? Nope. Is it really nice to have? You bet!! I would argue that if you do not have a dedicated homeschool space/room, then you absolutely need a homeschool cart. It is an excellent way to organize "all the things" and easy to move around the house.
My homeschool cart has evolved over the years, just as our homeschool has. When we first start out, we had 1 homeschooling student and no homeschool space. EVERYTHING fit on the cart. All the student books and teacher manuals, the manipulatives and art supplies, and even a few thing to entertain baby sister. Since that time we have added 3 more homeschoolers, no longer have babies around, and have added a homeschool space to our home. We now keep only the teacher manuals, manipulatives, and current read-alouds on our cart. The student work books and art supplies have new homes on our homeschool shelves and there are no more babies who need entertaining. Yet we still use our cart every homeschool day.
Here is what we have on our current homeschool cart:
Top | Mom's things - teacher manuals, mom's notebooks, etc. Divided using magazine holders. |
Middle | Pencil Organizer - dice, index cards, money, clock for math, math manipulatives, stopwatch, IEW grammar cards Books for our current read-alouds and unit studies |
Bottom | Math U See Blocks Letter Tiles and Flip book for Pinwheels Stem Challenge Cards |
