It's been a minute since we had a 4th grader around her, but we are excited to be doing 4th grade with my 9-year-old this coming homeschool year.

Math
We will be continuing with Math U See for her this coming year. She has a few lessons to finish in Gamma and then she will move on to Delta. Big sister actually used a different math curriculum her 4th grade year, so this will be our first time using that level. While Math U See is labeled as natural, I have only see a reference or two to church in all of the books and am comfortable with that.
Language Arts
We used and loved Pinwheels for a while now, but it is meant for younger students and my daughter felt like it was too "little kid" for her. I respect that feeling and decided to choose something new to try for her. We landed on Micheal Clay Thompson from Royal Fireworks Press. It took me a while to take the plunge considering the price tag, but not that I have it in hand, I'm happy with my choice and I think it is going to work well for us.
Word Study
We will also continue Root Words form Critical Learning Company. We do this as a group with my almost 4th grader as well. They really love it, so we will be continuing it. We are about halfway through the beginner level, but if we finish, we will move on to the next level. This has really helped with decoding and spelling.
Writing
We will be trying out something new to us this year for composition. We will be trying Layers of Learning Writer's Workshop. So far I'm really loving the idea. It is short and sweet lessons that you can pick and choose, but they are still scripted and ready to go for you. A win-win for me! I will of course update you guys once we've started using it!
History/Science
My oldest and I will be using a mixture of curriculum for a big History/Science unit study this year. My middle daughter will come along when we work on these:
Curiosity Chronicles
I was torn between Curiosity Chronicles and History Quest. I just could not decide. So I made the choice to just order both and see which I preferred. Long story short, we will be using Curiosity Chronicles. If you would like to hear more about why, you can check out this video:
History Quest
Even though I preferred Curiosity Chronicles, I decided to keep History Quest as well. We will be combining them both, but doing the activities for Curiosity Chronicles mostly. If you join either the CC or HQ history groups, you can search for documents that show how you can use both books together (which order to read the chapters in).
Science Chunks
While not secular (labeled as neutral), I really love the layout of Science Chunks and have decided to use them in our homeschool. I have scanned them (especially the ones I thought might be troublesome) and I have not seen anything I dislike. So I'm really excited to try them out in our homeschool.
Art
We will also be using Layers of Learning for art this year. We will be using Art Beginnings. I starts with a little bit of art basics, but we will be skipping that part as we have covered that recently. We will start with the second part that starts with covering art through history. I'm super excited because it lines up very well with our history/science unit.
Family Subjects
This may be one of our last years to try to get in some full family learning. So we will be doing two literature unit studies and Woven Melodies together as a family this year. We will be covering Winnie-the-Pooh and the Beatrix Poter series. I will share more about those later. We will also complete Woven Melodies from Thistles and Biscuits.
Computer Science
We will be using a combination of Google Applied Digital Skills and Typing Instruction to work on computer safety and typing skills.
I shared a video over on my channel about the Google Classroom and Google Applied Digital Skills if you would like more information.
