I first heard of Homeschool Planet a few times from YouTube videos by Ashlee at Gathered and Grounded. I thought, "That's cool. But what I'm doing works for me." I was post-planning in a paper planner, and as long as I remember, I could simply just mark down what we did each week in the planner. The only problem was remembering to do it each week. So, then it because a much longer task of looking back over what we had gotten to and trying to make it make sense.
Now my oldest is entering her high school years, and I need to keep some better records in case she chooses to go to college. So, I made out a list of all the tasks I needed to prep for. Keep track of hours, keep grades, make course descriptions and a transcript... etc. And I was all set to get to work creating these things. Then I heard an off handed comment from a YouTube Momma saying that Homeschool Planet could make a transcript for you. And I was intrigued.
I signed up for a free trial and got to digging. And I discovered that not only could Homeschool Planet make a transcript, but it can also do all of the other things on my list and MORE! To say I got excited was an understatement. I immediately reach out to the wonderful people at Homeschool Planet and starting learning about all the amazing things it can do.
So you may be thinking, "My child is no where near high school, why would I need all that." Well you don't, but this planner can do a ton for you too. Just sign up for the month trial and see for yourself!
Some of My Favorite Features
Easy to Shift Things Around
So one of the main reasons I was a post planner and not a pre-planner was because it really stressed me out if we didn't finish everything on our checklist for the day. I always felt like we were "behind" because I couldn't easily shift things around in a written planner. But with Homeschool Planet you can simple move something to the next day without feeling like you are leaving a task unfinished. You can even choose to shift all of your future plans automatically. How amazing is that!
So Many Options for Customization
This baby is really customizable. There is so many options to make a lesson plan that is the perfect fit for you. You can have a lesson that repeats the same thing over and over, you can have a lesson plan that follows a pattern, or you can have a lesson plan where each lesson is different.
You can link websites and videos to the class as a whole, or just to specific lessons. You can link to PDFs (that means PDF curriculum too!) and have it open to a specific page. You can link videos as well. Having everything right there just a click away streamlines your homeschool day and saves you time!
Students Get Their Own Login
This one is again more useful for older students, but being able to give students the ability to login and see what they need to do, mark things as complete, and even record times is going to be such a time saver for the homeschool parent! It really helps build independence for the student which is a major goal for parents.
Can Share Calanders
You can also merge your Homeschool Planet with any ISC format calendar. That includes Google Calendar and iCalendar. That means you can merge all of your calendars into one super calendar that has everything you need all at one glance. No more checking multiple calendars to see what you have going on.
