iCivics - Free Online Learning Resource for All Ages

Writer: Niki LavinNiki Lavin

Ya'll! I cannot tell you how excited I was to discover this resource! I was co-teaching a civics course at our co-op and I hate to say it but I don't know all that much about civics. So when my co-teacher found this website we were thrilled. It is chalk full of great lesson plans, games, activities, and so much more!

While it is designed to be used in a group learning environment, it is easily adapted to using in a homeschool setting. And they have a scope and sequence available, so all the work has been done for you! Just look under the green teach tab at the top of the webpage.

Better yet they have lessons plans for all ages: elementary, middle, and high school. So you can use this program with all of your homeschool students for the entire homeschooling career. And did I mention all of this is free! I'm in no way affiliated with iCivics and I'm getting nothing in exchange for this blog post (or the video linked below). It really is just that great of a resource that I had to share it with all of you!

If you would like a more in-depth look at the iCivics program/website, check out my review over on our YouTube channel. I walk you through how the website is laid out and share all about how we used it in our co-op class.

I know this is a resource I will be using for many years to come. I will use it again when we revisit civics for my oldest in high school. But I will also be using it with my younger kiddos as it fits in with our learning.

Have you tried iCivics before? What was your favorite feature? If not, do you see yourself using this program in your homeschool?
