Planning for a New School Year - 22/23

I am still in shock that the 2022 - 2023 school year is upon us! How did this happen people? But we are excited! The 21/22 year was a great year for us. We really found a grove and we found things that really work for us. So even thought we have been enjoying our break, we are ready to get back to it and continue to build on the successes from last year.

For me personal, I am only successful when I have set up a plan to follow. It does not have to be a strict plan, but a general idea of how things are going to go. Check-lists work really well for our homeschool.

The past several years we have used what we call a flow (we had been doing it for a little while, but the name came from Shanna over at Making Everyday Magic on YouTube). It served us very well for a very long time. And we continue to use it for my 3rd grader. However a goal for my 7th grader this year is to start to be more independent. So a small adjustment was needed.

During her 6th grade year we tried something similar where we used Google Classroom to assign assignments for her to complete. My intention was that she would do them at her own pace, but she is a rule follower and basically completed assignments exactly when they said they needed to be completed. So this year we are trying a check list.

We are also adding our littlest to into our homeschool day this year. They are doing pre-K / kinder type work, but we are mostly focusing on getting use to some structure to our days. When it's time for school we need to focus on mom and do some fun activities. Then we can go back to our free time. And if they learn a little bit about letters, numbers, colors, and shapes in the process... even better!

Below are some videos I created sharing the process I used to plan out our homeschool years for our kiddos:

Are you planned for the 22/23 school year? Are you sticking with tried and true methods, or are you trying something new this year? I'd love to hear about it down in the comments!
